Private Antimullerian Hormone Testing in Calgary

At AvoVita, we empower you to take command of your reproductive future through precision diagnostics. The Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test is a cornerstone of modern fertility assessment, providing a clinical-grade "snapshot" of a woman’s remaining egg supply, or ovarian reserve. Unlike other hormones that fluctuate significantly throughout the menstrual cycle, AMH remains relatively stable, making it a reliable and convenient marker for assessing reproductive potential at any time.

Our diagnostic suite is meticulously designed for Calgary residents who demand clinical accuracy and total confidentiality. By partnering directly with Mayo Clinic Laboratories, we bring world-class testing technology to your doorstep, ensuring your results are processed with the same rigor found in major fertility centers. Whether you are planning for the future, investigating reproductive concerns, or seeking clarity for peace of mind, our process is built to eliminate the stress and administrative hurdles typically associated with medical testing.

Understanding Ovarian Reserve & The Utility of AMH

The Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is a protein hormone produced by the granulosa cells within the small, growing follicles of the ovaries. Because it is secreted by the follicles that have not yet "ripened" for ovulation, your AMH level serves as a highly accurate proxy for your ovarian reserve—the total remaining quantity of eggs. While it does not measure the quality of the eggs, it provides the most significant clinical data point regarding the quantity of your reproductive window.

Why Tracking AMH is a Critical Component of Modern Wellness

In the past, reproductive health was often managed reactively. Today, AMH testing allows for a proactive, data-driven strategy. Understanding your specific levels is essential for several key clinical and lifestyle milestones:

  • Strategic Fertility Planning: For those considering delaying parenthood for career, travel, or personal reasons, AMH provides an estimate of the "fertility window." This data is instrumental in deciding when to prioritize conception or whether to consider elective egg or embryo freezing.
  • PCOS Identification & Management: Significantly elevated AMH levels (often 2–3 times higher than the age-matched average) are a primary clinical marker for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This objective data helps differentiate PCOS from other hormonal imbalances and guides personalized management plans.
  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Response Prediction: If you are pursuing assisted reproductive technologies, your AMH level helps specialists predict how your ovaries will respond to stimulation medications. This allows for a more tailored approach to dosage, maximizing safety and success rates.
  • Monitoring the Impact of Medical Treatments: Certain medical interventions, such as chemotherapy or specific pelvic surgeries, can impact ovarian function. Serial AMH testing allows you and your oncology or surgical team to monitor the impact on your reproductive health in real-time.
  • Anticipating the Menopause Transition: While it cannot predict the exact date of your final period, a consistent downward trend in AMH levels can help identify the onset of perimenopause, allowing you to manage symptoms and bone health proactively.

The Clinical Advantage: Cycle Independence

Unlike other reproductive hormones such as FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone) or Estradiol, which must be tested on specific days of the menstrual cycle (usually Day 2 or 3) to be meaningful, AMH remains relatively stable throughout the month. This "cycle independence" means you can secure your diagnostic data at any time, providing immediate clarity without waiting for the start of a new cycle.

By providing access to these advanced insights through our partnership with Mayo Clinic Laboratories, we ensure you receive a level of diagnostic precision that was previously only available through high-end fertility clinics. Knowledge of your ovarian reserve is not just about family planning; it is about having a complete map of your biological timeline.

No requisition is needed (with the exception of cancer screening and prenatal genetic tests), you pay for the tests you want and the PDF results are securely emailed to you. You can download them and do with them as you please.

Different tests have different turnaround times, and we generally tell people to expect a result window of 3-10 days, depending on when your blood draw is completed.
