AvoVita exists because getting a blood test in Alberta is harder than it should be. Long waits, limited availability, and a public system that generally won't order a test unless you already have a reason to suspect something. That gap is what we were built to fill.
We started in Calgary in 2020 as Ichor Blood Services, doing one thing: sending a phlebotomist to your home so you didn't have to sit in a clinic. That business is now AvoVita — same founders, same city, same phlebotomy service, with a catalogue of more than 450 tests behind it and a private portal where your results land.

AvoVita arranges private laboratory testing. You choose a test, a certified phlebotomist comes to you, and the specimen is shipped to an accredited reference laboratory for analysis. The result is delivered to your private client portal, where you can download it and take it to whichever provider you choose.
Most of the catalogue is analysed by Mayo Clinic Laboratories in Rochester, Minnesota. The remainder comes from Armin Labs in Germany, Dynacare, ReligenDx and Precision Epigenomics. We do not run the analysis ourselves — these are accredited laboratories, and the report you receive is theirs.
We do not diagnose, treat or prescribe. We recommend reviewing any result with a healthcare provider of your choice.
All but five tests in the AvoVita catalogue can be ordered directly by you, with no physician requisition. There is no referral to chase and no appointment to wait for: you choose the test, book a collection time, and a phlebotomist comes to you.
The five exceptions are the three prenatal screens from Dynacare, the FRAT test from ReligenDx, and EPISEEK early cancer detection from Precision Epigenomics. Those require a requisition to be present at the time of collection, and prenatal reports are issued directly to the referring physician.
Collection is mobile across Calgary, Chestermere, Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks. The in-home collection fee is $85 inside Calgary and $135 in the surrounding towns, charged once per appointment however many tests you order.
