Heavy Metals Screening: Advanced Detection of Environmental Toxins

At AvoVita, we provide the diagnostic clarity necessary to navigate an increasingly complex environmental landscape. Our Heavy Metals Screen is a comprehensive blood-based assessment designed to detect the presence of the four most clinically significant toxic elements: Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead. These metals have no known beneficial role in human biology and can accumulate in the body over time, leading to significant neurological, cardiovascular, and metabolic disruptions.

Our diagnostic suite is built for Calgary residents and professionals who demand the highest standards of toxicological accuracy. By utilizing the advanced ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) technology of Mayo Clinic Laboratories, we provide world-class detection limits that can identify even trace levels of exposure. Whether you are investigating chronic symptoms, monitoring occupational exposure, or simply optimizing your long-term wellness, AvoVita puts the objective data you need directly into your hands.

Understanding the Risks: Mercury, Lead, Arsenic & Cadmium

Toxic metal exposure is rarely the result of a single acute event; more often, it is the consequence of chronic, low-level accumulation from our diet, water, and environment. Because the symptoms of heavy metal toxicity often mimic other chronic conditions—such as fatigue, cognitive "fog," or digestive distress—a clinical-grade blood test is the only definitive way to assess your body burden.

Clinical Insights into the "Big Four" Metals:

  • Mercury (Hg): Commonly introduced through certain types of seafood or industrial exposure. Mercury is a potent neurotoxin that can impact central nervous system function, leading to tremors, memory loss, and sensory impairment.
  • Lead (Pb): Despite increased regulation, lead exposure remains a concern through aging infrastructure, soil, and older consumer products. In adults, chronic lead exposure is linked to hypertension, kidney dysfunction, and reproductive challenges.
  • Arsenic (As): Found naturally in some groundwater and certain foods, arsenic interferes with cellular longevity and energy production. Chronic exposure is a known risk factor for skin lesions and various cardiovascular complications.
  • Cadmium (Cd): Often associated with industrial work or tobacco smoke, cadmium accumulates in the kidneys and bones. Long-term exposure can lead to renal impairment and a significant decrease in bone mineral density.

Taking Command of Your Health Profile

Waiting for "toxic symptoms" to manifest is a reactive approach to health that overlooks the damage caused by sub-clinical accumulation. At AvoVita, we believe in a proactive model where you are the primary stakeholder in your own environmental data. By establishing a heavy metals baseline, you gain the ability to identify exposure sources and make data-driven decisions about your lifestyle, filtration systems, and nutrition.

In a landscape where environmental testing is often overlooked in routine check-ups, we offer a streamlined, professional alternative. We serve individuals who value high-fidelity data on their own terms, ensuring that your journey toward a toxin-free life is supported by the world’s most trusted diagnostic standards.

A Commitment to Total Privacy & Independence

We recognize that your toxicological data is a private matter. To ensure your absolute discretion, AvoVita operates as a strictly independent private diagnostic provider. We are not affiliated with public health authorities, and we do not participate in government-run public health reporting or provincial database tracking for environmental screens.

Your diagnostic journey remains 100% confidential, existing solely between you and our clinical network. This independence ensures that you retain exclusive ownership of your health information. By bypassing the bureaucracy of the public system, you gain the freedom to secure world-class insights from Mayo Clinic Laboratories while maintaining the highest level of personal privacy and data autonomy.

The Hidden Dangers of Aluminum Toxicity: Sources, Health Impacts, and Solutions

Modern life comes with its conveniences, but it also introduces our bodies to a range of harmful substances, including heavy metals like aluminum. Aluminum is one of the most common metals on Earth and is widely used in various products. While exposure in small amounts may not seem harmful, consistent exposure from multiple sources can lead to aluminum toxicity, with significant impacts on health.

Everything You Need to Know About Private Blood Testing

No we are not connected with provincial health or any other organizations, this is 100% private testing. No requisition is needed (with the exception of cancer screening and prenatal genetic tests), you pay for the tests you want and the PDF results are securely emailed to you. You can download them and do with them as you please.

Different tests have different turnaround times, and we generally tell people to expect a result window of 3-10 days, depending on when your blood draw is completed. We ship specimens on Wednesdays, and so a blood draw on a Tuesday would result much faster than a blood draw on a Thursday which would have to wait 6 days before shipping.

No we are 100% private, anyone can access our tests you do not require provincial health coverage or even Canadian citizenship.

Our third party home services provider is familiar with and comfortable with collections on children. We leave it to the discretion of the parent, and our third party provider if a draw on a child will be acceptable.

Each test has its own price, which can be found by clicking the book now link on our site. We do not offer multi test discounts, the price of each test remains the same regardless of the number of test purchased. You can pick and choose whichever tests you like to meet your needs.
